I hate using my mom's cancer as an excuse to tell these scammers off, on the one hand. On the other hand, it's actually good therapy, so please bear with me. "Miss Diana's" story is like any other scammer's tale, and of course not a word is true. So, here's her sad story and here's my reply:

Hello Dear,

I know that this proposal might be a surprise to you, but do consider it as an emergency. I am Miss Diana John from Sierre Loene in West Africa who is seeking for refugee in Dakar Senegal under the (UNHCR) due to the longing civil war in my country.

Dear "Miss Diana" or whoever you really are:


Sorry, Toots. Don't expect me to be "surprised". I get these same weary scams all the time, and yours is no different. Dead Daddy, lots of money, someone chasing you/trying to kill you, need help to get your [nonexistent] money and of course, it's "our dirty little secret". Nope. Not anymore.


See, when I get a scam e-mail, I share it so that others will be aware that ["Miss Diana"] is sending random scam e-mails and to be on the alert for them so they can delete them and not get taken in by a sad story.

And speaking of sad stories--I already have one of my own, but this is for real--my mother is going to die a horrible, agonizing death from cancer. So yours pales in comparison, "Miss Diana", as far as I'm concerned.

Keep watching, because you'll soon be infamous!
